Moonlight glistened off blankets of snow that covered a street lined with houses. A snowplow turned the corner directly into the path of a stray dog. At the last second the driver saw the white and black spotted dog and swerved the plow into a yard. The vehicle's blade sliced through a small tree sending it to the frozen ground with a crunch. The man that lived in the house came out to see if the plow driver was hurt. The driver was fine and as he drove away he told the man that the city would replace the tree in the spring. The man sadly looked down at the broken tree, and then searched through the tangled branches. He found a single pink blossom.
