The squirrel's mother had named him Giant because she believed he would do something courageous like guard over a king. "If I were any braver I would have to be taller!" Giant always said.
The animals in the stable teased Giant because he believed he would do something brave. Each animal described what service he or she might do for a king. The camel said he could carry a king's treasures. The horse said she could pull a king's chariot. The sheep said her wool could clothe a king with beautiful robes. The donkey said he could pack the royal firewood. Not to be outdone, the lamb said he could fill his majesty's belly... but they all laughed when asking, "What could a squirrel possibly do for a king?"
